Washington football team has hired Jason Wright as the first black team president in the history of NFL and making him the fourth former player to be in that position. The news was made on Monday morning on ABC’s Good morning America.
Wright who is 38 is also the league’s youngest team president. He played in the team before he went to do business, He serves as a partner of the consulting firm McKinsey & Company out their Washington office recently.
Jason wright has replaced bruce Allen and will now head the organization business division which includes operation finance, sales, and marketing. He comes to Washington after the team offseason that saw a sexual harassment scandal. And the owner Dan Snyder finally part ways with the 87 years old Redskin Name Last month.
Jason Wright gave a welcome statement
In a statement when wright was interviewed he said, “This team at this time is a welcoming opportunity for me”. “The transformation of the team is happening accross all aspects of the organization”. “From football to operations to branding to culture”, and “I will make us the modern and aspirational franchise”. “We want to set a standard for the NFL”.
Washington football team has been without a president since the 2019 season after bruce Allen fired. The team later hired coach Ron Rivera and gave him control over everything as Dan Snyder said he wanted a coach centric approach.
Wright hiring won’t really change that because he won’t be involved in the football side like Allen bruce when he was the president. Jason Wright will focus on the business area only and he will report to Snyder.
In a statement Snyder said. His experience as a former player adding his business acumen gives him a perspective that is unrivaled in the league. Until we are a championship-caliber team, we will not rest, whether on the field or off the field.
