Cristiano Ronaldo. Just because we have seen Cristiano Ronaldo produce a lot of heroic performances over the years.
It was so surprising to see Cristiano fail to inspire Juventus at home to FC Porto in the Champions League last 16 this month (earlier).
Juve actually trailed 2-1 from the first leg and was kicked out of the competition on away goal just after winning the return leg 3-2.
Cristiano Ronaldo was so much condemned for his role in Juve’s defeat.
He was actually part of the dismal wall which led to Sergio Oliveira’s dramatic late free-kick finding the back of the net.
Had Cristiano Ronaldo not turned his back, it is really possible that Juventus would be in competition with Chelsea in the quarter-finals instead of Porto.
Nicola Amoruso’s Comment to Sky Sports Italia
Here is what Nicola Amoruso, the former Juve striker said to Sky Sports Italia, per Goal, after the match:
“He is afraid of receiving a ball in the face because he cares about his image.”
It was the former Real Madrid teammate of Cristiano Ronaldo. Pepe gained the plaudits following an excellent individual performance in Turin.
Fans praised the 38-year-old just after making 18 clearances and also winning 100 percent of his aerial duels.
But, footage has appeared two weeks later. Uncovering an engaging conversation between the Portuguese player and Pepe during the match.
See What Cristiano Ronaldo Said to Pepe
In the footage posted by UEFA on their Instagram account. And also called out attention by Spanish newspaper AS Cristiano Ronaldo was heard saying to Pepe:
“Play it! I’m going to win and it’ll be with you on the pitch.”
He repeats: “I’m going to win and it’ll be with you on the pitch.”
Considering what happened then, the footage looks somehow awkward now for the Portuguese player.
Possibly these were the words that encouraged and motivated Pepe to yield his best performance in a Porto shirt.
For once, at least the Portuguese player wasn’t able to support his words of confidence by producing the goods on the pitch.
Pepe ended up having the last laugh.
