Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is in the middle of a 16 games unbeaten run in all competitions. The Red Devils will set a new premier league record if they beat Aston Villa by 3 or more goals at Villa Park on Thursday night.
United are in top form having won 10 points from a possible 12 since the premier league restart last month. Solskjaer team draw with former boss Jose Mourinho. Man United have beaten Sheffield United, Brighton & Bournemouth. The team will set a new record for consecutive wins by at least 3 or more goal margin with a win over Aston Villa.
United already boasts of a 20 game unbeaten streak at Villa park heading into the encounter as the Favorites to win. Solskjaer men beat Sheffield United & Brighton 3-0 before they beat Bournemouth 5-2 at Old Trafford last weekend.
Man City 5-0 Newcastle: Silva, Mahrez, and others secures win
At the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City ran riot over Newcastle United with a 5-0 drubbing. Gabriel Jesus & Riyad Mahrez’s first-half goal put the game to bed in the first half along with a second-half stunner from David Silva before Raheem Sterling scored a late goal.
Newcastle’s woes compounded when Federico Hernandez’s own goal completed the mauling. Pep Guardiola made five changes to the side that lost 1-0 to Southampton at the Saint Mary’s on Sunday. The city holds the record for most changes made in a premier league season with 125 more than any other team.
However, Newcastle was looking for a third successive away win since 2001 and Steve Bruce made six changes to the team that held the hammers to a 1-1 draw last week. Star winger, Allan Saint-Maximin was notably absent due to injury. The magpies had a good start to the Premier League with two draws & two wins suffering defeat to City in the FA Cup quarterfinals last month.
Phil Foden & David Silva combined to get City’s first goal just after 10 minutes. Kevin De Bruyne provided an assist for the second goal making it 18 assists so far this season. Man City are now nine points clear of Chelsea in second place & will hope to take this fine form to face Arsenal in the FA Cup. The citizens will battle Real Madrid in the champions league coming up later in June.
Brighton 1-3 Liverpool, Mancity Record still in sight
Jurgen Klopp boosted hopes of beating Man City’s points record with an away victory over Brighton & Hove Albion. Mohammed Salah scored a brace along with Jordan Henderson to give the England champions a 3-1 win at Amex stadium. Leandro Trossard scored a brilliant goal on the stroke of half time to give the hosts a lifeline.
Liverpool requires three wins to beat Man City’s highest points in a season record. Naby Keita showed excellent display in the Midfield area with indications that the Reds may reconsider their pursuit of Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara.
The Guinean international ball recoveries led to goals & his style of play was also top-notch. Meanwhile, Mohammed Salah has scored 94 goals & 36 assists for Liverpool. The Egyptian is heading towards another golden boot award.
