On August 8, 1981, in Basel, Switzerland, Roger Federer the tennis champion was born. He was born to Robert Federer a Swiss man and Lynette Du Rand his South African Mother. his parents worked at a pharmaceutical company and they met on a business trip.
At an early age Federer took an interest in sports, he played tennis and soccer when he was just 8 years. At the age of 11, he was already among the 3 three leading tennis players in Switzerland. He focused fully on tennis dropping every other sport at the age of 12, which he felt natural he’s better in.
In so groomed in the game at the age of 14, in which he played 2 or 3 competitions in a month and practices 6hours a week with about 3 hours of conditioning. He always looked up to his role models to perfect his skills, Boris Becker and Stefan Edberg.
He was chosen to train in Ecublens at the Swiss National Tennis Center after becoming the junior national champion in Switzerland, just at the age of 14. In July 1996, he joined the junior tennis circuit of the International Tennis Federation and was first sponsored at the age of 16.

He knocked out the reigning singles in the fourth round Pete Sampras at the Wimbledon in 2001. Federer became the first Swiss man to win Grand Slam title when he became successful at Wimbledon, in 2003.
He was ranked No. 2 in the world ranking in 2004 and also won the Australian Open, the U.S Open. ATP Masters and also retained his Wimbledon singles title all this that same year. At the beginning of 2005, he was already ranked No. 1, and he won the Wimbledon singles that same year making it the third consecutively and the U.S. Open.
Federer was still holding his world ranking of No. 1 from the year 2004 to 2008. He won in 2006 and 2007 the singles championship at Australian Open, Wimbledon and the U.S Open. He was seen as a paragon of graceful athleticism. From the year 2005 – 2008 he was named the Laureus World Sportsman.
Federer won his fifth U.S open win beating the Scottish player Andy Murray in 2008. Unfortunately, that year was a difficult one for his career. He lost to his greatest rival Rafael Nadal at both the French Open and Wimbledon. He also lost to a young star, Novak Djokovic that same year for the Australian Open title. and he dropped down to No. 2 in the world’s ranking for the first time in 4 years.
Federer made a great career with many ups and downs. He was later ranked No. in 2012 defeating Andy Murray. He also won the Wimbledon singles title for the seventh time making a record. Also, he made a new record in July 2017, defeating Marin Cilic to win his eighth Wimbledon titles in a 6-3 6-1 6-4 win.
