On Thursday Simpson opened with a 6-under par 65 and he hit the same score on Friday. On Saturday he scored lower with 3-under par 68 which tied him up for the lead with 18 holes left for him to play. He came back on Sunday with a big round to win the title.

The round didn’t start up well for Webb Simpson

He parred the first hole and birdied the par-5 second hole to move to 1 in just one day. After pars on number 3 and number 4, he birdied Par-5 on the front side and the fifth hole to move to 2 under par. There was no other birdied on the front side this left Simpson with 2-under par 34 on the front side.

He was left at 17-under par for the tournament. He found himself hunting the leaders with nine holes left to play. Simpson then turned the notch up. He recorded consecutive birdies on the 12th and 13th holes that got him to 19-under par after par 10 and 11.

Webb Simpson went on to hit the tournament winning stretch of birdie after a par on number 14. It started with a birdie on the par-5 15th hole following a birdie on 16 and 17. this put him at 22-under par. It also put him in the lead with one hole left to play.

On the 18 he did what he was meant to do by hitting the Fairway and the green in the regulation. Simpson won the title with just two putts from 30 feet.

Simpson moved to the first place in the FedEx cup standings, Replacing Seung Jae at the top. If Simpson continues with his recent form he would be included in the cup at the end of the season.
