Nigeria international & Lille Striker, Victor Osimhen has drawn a lot of offers from top clubs in Europe. The Nigerian forward was spotted in Italy where he’s rumored to be on the verge of joining Napoli.
The president of Lille, Gerard Lopez confirmed that the club received several offers for the French Ligue 1 Star. Lille also turned down offers from a host of clubs from England & Spain in the last January transfer window.
Osimhen had drawn interests from Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool & Manchester United in time past. The 21-year old’s current contract with Lille will expire at the end of the 2023/2024 season.
Osimhen is expected to cost £70 million after scoring 18 goals for Lille before the Ligue 1 season was ended prematurely by coronavirus pandemic. However, Napoli is currently leading the race to sign Victor Osimhem & the striker is on the verge of becoming Nigeria’s most expensive footballer once the deal pulls through.
It is reported that the 21-year-old has since arrived in Italy to further negotiations with the Serie A club. The Super Eagles striker has been offered a four-year deal. These will see him earn close to €2.5 million Euros per year. Napoli is offering Lille €60 million Euros for his services & the deal will make Osimhen the highest paid Nigerian player surpassing Everton midfielder Alex Iwobi.
Lille President has already tipped Victor to be a star at the Naples once the transfer is completed. However, according to Football Italia, Victor Osimhem has reportedly turned down an offer from Napoli & wants to play in the English Premier League.
This is coming after the striker’s visit to Napoli to discuss with the club’s management & also inspect facilities. The Italian outfit has laid claims that the 21-year-old is waiting for offers from premier league teams. Manchester United or Arsenal to step forward in his football career.
The Nigerian visited coach Gennaro Gattuso’s home & the home of club president Aurelio de Laurentis on the Island of Capri. Victor Osimhem asked for a few days to think about the deal after weeks of negotiations from both clubs & his entourage. The prolific striker has decided to turn down the offer from the Italian club.
Football Italia claims the Nigerian international is pressured in the move. This is because his agent worked out all the details before asking for his opinion. Victor Osimhen is not rejecting Napoli but rather there might be an internal issue with his entourage, Lille & the way the matter was handled. Lille signed Osimhen from Belgian club, sporting Charleroi for €14 million Euros a year ago. He has since become one of the most sought after goal poachers in Europe.
