His early life

On May 22, 1987 Novak Djokovic was born, in Belgrade, Serbia. His Father Srdjan and mother Dijan both owned the company Family Sports. The Family Sports had three restaurants and also a tennis academy. His Father, aunt and uncle were all professional skiers. His father is also good at soccer, but Djokovic was a tennis genius.

At the age of 6 years, in the summer of 1993, at his parents sports complex, Djokovic was spotted by Yugoslavian tennis legend. For six years Gencic worked with Djokovic.

He was sent to go for tennis in an Academy in Munich, Germany at the age of 13, to go higher in competitions. He started his international career at the age of 14, in 2001.

Djokovic career

He ended 2001 as a triple European champion in singles and doubles and team competition. In a team tournament for Yugoslavia he won a silver medat at the world Junior Championship.

He was ranked the 48th best junior tennis player in the world when he was just 16, after winning five ITF competitions. His first ATP challenger tournament in Budapest was won in 2004, where he played as a qualifier.

He qualified the following year at Wimbledon and he made it to the third round, and it moved him up the rankings to be among the 100 best player in the world.

Djokovic plays the semifinals of the French Open and also the Wimbledon in the 2007 season. After beating the top 3 players Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Andy Roddic he won his second Masters title in Montreal.

This took him to the world ranking of No. 3. In the 2008 Beijing Olympics he competed for his country Serbia for the fist time in history. He won the bronze medal in singles tennis. The Serbian national team embraced the Davis Cup trophy in 2010 for Serbia, and it was the first time in history.

Djokovic later win 43 matches consecutively in 2011, he is the only player in the world that have made such run. He also won the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the U.S open that same here and he was ranked No. 1 tennis player in the world.

Djokovic made it to the semifinals at Wimbledon in 2012, and he also won the Australian Open singles title. Roger Federer, his long time rival beat him in the semifinals and later won Andy Murray to win the final. Djokovic later faced Murray, later that year in the U.S Open final. He lost the match after five sets, though he fought really hard.

In 2013, Djokovic took home for the third time the men’s singles title at the Australian Open. He took second at the Wimbledon that year , loosing to Andy Murray in the final. Djokovic was the topped ranked player at the U.S. Open. He easily defeated his opponents in the first three rounds of their play, but lost to Rafael Nadal in the final.
