Manchester City has finally completed the contract signing of the valencia winger Ferran Torres for a sum of £20.87m. He became the first player to be signed by Guardiola’s side. He is the replacement of Germany’s forward, Leroy Sane who left the club for Bayern Munich.
Torres has signed a contract that will last for five years. However the 20 years old gave a speech after he joined Mancity.
Torres said, Every player always want to be part of attacking teams and manchester city is one of the best-attacking team in the football world. I am so happy I will be joining Mancity. Pep Guardiola like an open aggressive style that I love. And he is a coach that has a record of improving players. To have him as part of my improvement is a dream. Man City has won a lot of trophies in the past decade and I hope I can play a role and continue that success.
The 20-year-old came through Valencia’s academy and scored four times in 34 matches last season after they finish on the 9th position on the La Liga table. Ferran Torres is considered to be one of the best Spanish young players but Valencia needed to balance their books by selling some of their players. This happened even before the coronavirus impact on finance of the club.
Ferran Torres made his senior professional appearance as a teenager during the 2017/18 season. And later made 13 appearances in total that same season. In the season when valencia won the Copa del Rey he scored 3 goals in 37 appearances. City has also completed the transfer of Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake.
Guardiola is eager to strengthen his forward after they lost the premier league title to Liverpool. Mancity director made a statement where he said the club have been tracking the young star and have decided to add him to the team.
