Los Angeles Lakers forward Anthony Davis will wear his name behind his jersey when the lakers will resume into action on July 30. Davis made his decision on Sunday in a conference call from Orlando. Where the western conference-leading lakers are beginning team workouts.
Davis and Lebron James both disagreed to choose social injustice write-up to replace their names on the back of their jerseys when NBA resumes. Anthony Davis who has won seven NBA all-star said. He was “Torn between” choosing from the 29 approved messages and sticking with his name.
Davis said, For me, I think the name Davis is something I try to represent every time I step on the floor. I just think my last name is something that is important to me. And also social justice as well. But I am just holding my family name and representing the name on the back to go through this process. And those who have been with me through my career to help me get to this point. While still kind of bringing up things that we can do for social injustice.
Both Anthony Davis And Lebron James rejected wearing social justice message
Lebron James decided to ignore the justice message because the other remaining options Didn’t resonate with the particular feeling about the movement. He would have loved to forge his own slogan but it wasn’t allowed.
Both Anthony and James have opened up about social justice causes in the past, Although James is more vocal than Davis. Lakers will be without their veteran point guard Rajon Rondo when the NBA season resumes. Rondo suffered a significant hand injury during training according to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin and Malika Andrew.
Los Angeles Lakers also announced that Rondo had fractured his right thumb. And he is expected to be absent for eight weeks after surgery which will be done during the week.
