Tottenham defender Eric Dier has been handed ban for four matches and a fined £40,000 for climbing up into the stand to confront a fan. After Tottenham lost to Norwich on March 4. The England international was sanctioned by the football association on a charge of misconduct for the incident that took place before football was called off in March.


Dier has also been given a warning about his future footballing career by the FA. He was also punished for breaching the E3 rule. Eric Dier whose team lost the penalty shootout saw when his brother was been abused by a fan and ran to him to give aid. However, there was no physical contact and the matter was not addressed by the metropolitan police after a brief Investigation.


In a statement. Dier admitted that his action during the match against Norwich was impolite but he refused that they were threatening.

“An independent regulatory commission subsequently found dier’s actions to be threatening, the FA finalized in a statement.

The punishment will see Mourinho’s team play without dier for the 4 of 5 remaining premier league games this season. Tottenham’s boss who has defended his defender about the incident said he has been abused by fans after the game.

Mourinho said he wasn’t expecting any punishment to follow the action that happened a few months ago. After the FA didn’t sanction Arsenal Matteo Guendouzi for grabbing Brighton striker Neal Maupay on his neck.


Eric dier’s absence in the Tottenham line up for four matches will be a blow for spurs as they fight for a place in European football next season. Dier has been an important player in the team as he has been a good central defender. The England international has been with spurs after signing from sporting Lisbon in 2014. He is yet to sign another contract with the club and Mourinho confirmed that the 26-years old player will secure his future in spurs.

Tottenham will travel to Arsenal to face their premier league rival at emirate on Sunday. Dier will not feature in their conclusion matches against Bournemouth, Newcastle, and Arsenal. But he might be in the final match against Crystal Palace on july 26.
