Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal captain has tested positive for the coronavirus, the nations football federation has said

The Juventus start was due to feature for Portugal tomorrow in their Nations League Group C clash against Sweden.

The 35-year-old has been released by the national side and must now isolate.

He  is the only member of the Portugal squad to test positive

The news comes just days after  Ronaldo in Portugal’s goalless draw with France.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the latest world star to contract the virus.

On Monday, Cristiano  Ronaldo posted a photo on Instagram of the tea gathered at what appears to be a restaurant. None of the players were wearing face-covering or spacing themselves apart.

” If Cristiano Ronaldo had got the virus a week later, we would have hit the front pages even of the New Times,” De Luca added.

The news comes just days after  Ronaldo in Portugal’s goalless draw with France.

It’s a relief to hear  Ronaldo is not in ill health and we hope he gets back to doing what he does best as soon as possible

Cristiano Ronaldo Undertake a period in Quarantine

The Juventus striker will now undertake a period in quarantine after contracting Covid-19 away on international duty.

Ronaldo will sit out Portugal’s Nations League with Sweden on Wednesday night as he begins a ten-day period of self-isolation.

Following the positive test, the remaining underwent new tests on Tuesday morning, and all pronounced a negative result and are available to Fernando Santos for training

Cristiano Ronaldo had been in the top form prior to the clash with France, scoring three goals in his first two appearances at the start of Juve’s latest domestic campaign.
