Cristiano Ronaldo Early Life

On February 5, 1985, Ronaldo was born, in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal. Madeira was a small island off the western coast of the country. Out of four children of Maria Dolores Dos Santos and Jose Dinis Aveiro, Ronaldo was the youngest. His father named him after his favorite actors Ronald Reagan.

Ronaldo neighborhood was a largely working-class one he grew up there in a metal-roofed home. His father introduced him to the world of football as he worked at a boy’s club as an equipment manager.

Ronaldo’s father drank too much which shaped his life into hardship. Ronaldo’s mother helped to keep the children fed and maintained as she worked as a cook and cleaning person.

His father died in 2005, when Ronaldo was still in Manchester United, from alcohol-related kidney problems. It was hard for Ronaldo initially due to his Father’s death as he was close to him and also his mother battled with breast cancer.

His father was stubborn to Ronaldo’s words as he tried to talk his father into entering rehab so to stop his drinking habit.

Ronaldo was seen as a kid who ate, slept and drank football at the time he was only 10 years old. His godfather, Fernao Sousa said to British reporters, To play football is all he wanted to do. He misses meals or goes through the bedroom window with his ball when he was supposed to work on his assignment, that is how much he admired the game.

Ronaldo’s skills grew professionally in his early teens, he signed a contract in 2001 with Sporting Portugal after a short time with Nacional da liha da Madeira.

Ronaldo won many competitive individual awards and team trophies. His fourth Ballon d’Or award as the best player of the year was won in December 2016. In 2017 he won his 5th Ballon d’Or to tie with Messi’s Ballon d’Or wins.

Juventus

Ronaldo left Real Madrid and joined Juventus a Seria A club in Italy. They paid a $140 million signing fee to Real Madrid.

Ronaldo made a tribute to his fans in Real Madrid by writing a letter on the club’s website: ” Years in Real Madrid and also Madrid as a city has been the best and happiest moment of my life. I am really glad about the club and the fans and also the city. I am grateful for the affection they showed to me”.

Meanwhile, his move to Juventus was a good one. in 14 matches, he scored 10 goals. He also led his team to the Supercoppa Italiana cup with his lone goal against AC Milan. In May 2019, in was named the leagues MVP after he took his club to their 8th consecutive league cup.
