Chelsea has announced the sharing of numbers to newly signed players to the club. An exciting summer arrival has seen Chelsea bring in defenders like Ben Chilwell and Thiago silva. The club has also launched attacking sides Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, and Hakim Ziyech. Mbuyamba Xavier and Malang Sarr have also been included in the squad. Although, Mbuyamba has been sent to join the under-23 squad. And the former Nice defender has been sent on a loan for the season.
The outlay of new players has got Chelsea fans dreaming of a title challenge under Frank Lampard. Brazilian international and experienced defender has taken the jersey number 6. The number was formerly assigned to Danny Drinkwater who has been told he has no future in the club.
Ben Chilwell from Leicester has been given the jersey no 21 which belonged to Davide Zappacosta who will be leaving the club soon. Timo Werner from Leipzig has been handed the No 11 jersey that has been available after Pedro left the club.
Former Ajax winger Hakim Ziyech collects the number 22 that was left vacant by Christian Pulisic.
Pulisic has been given the number 10 after Willian who left the club for Arsenal on a free transfer. And Kai Havertz has preferred to keep the no 29 which was dropped by Tomori Fikayo who has the no 14 presently. Reports said Tomori is likely to leave the club on loan to Everton.
Every other player in Chelsea will keep their former Jersey number as they prepare for the new season which will kick start this weekend. The blues will head to Brighton as they face their first opponent.
On the next match, they will face League champions, Liverpool before going away to face newly promoted West Brom six days later. After finishing on the fourth position last season, Lampard hopes to mount a title challenge in Chelsea this season.
