The match between Villareal and Barcelona saw Ansu Fati in flying colors. Even though he was not officially named the man of the match. His performance showed how possible it was for him to receive the ball. After Barcelona returned to their La Liga action, Fati helped himself with two goals in the first 20 minutes of the game to put Barca ahead of their opposing Villareal team.
Lionel Messi then increased the scoreline with a penalty kick after Ansu Fati was brought down in the 18-yard box. Before the ending of the first half, Pau Torres converted a pass from Messi into his own to secure the fourth goal. After the half time break, Villareal increased their defensive ability to avoid any other goal in the post.
Ansu Fati stole the show despite the likes of Messi, Griezman, and Coutinho were present in the match. He made his shine just in the first half of the game before he was substituted by Dembele in the second half.
Fati who had broken a couple of records since making his debut last season produced an amazing finish from Jordi Alba cut back and got his first goal. He scored the second goal four minutes later after being picked out by Coutinho.
The Spanish international won a penalty that was taken by Lionel Messi. The argentine turned the penalty into the third goal of the night. Lionel Messi later made an assist when he crossed the ball from the right-hand side. And Pau Torres converted it to the fourth goal of the game.
However, Messi’s contribution to the game was superb, there was no idea who the star of the game was. Ansu Fati who was later substituted by Ousmane Dembele in the second half has all the requirements to clinch the price. But even though he was fantastic against Villareal, the teenager missed out on the award because of his age.
The king of the match was later handed to Jordi Alba because the award was sponsored by Budweiser. Ansu Fati is not 18 yet until October and is not old enough to drink alcohol. This meant Ansu was ineligible to be selected for the man of the match award. The award was then left for Jordi Alba to receive it.
